| Description |
This workshop is an introduction to Ashtanga Yoga and the Primary Series. The Primary series is an energetic set sequence of asana (poses) that are linked together in a flowing vinyasa form. The Primary Series is a cleansing and purifying sequence that requires self discipline and stamina. Those that practise the Primary Series often expereince a feeling of vitality, improved levels of fitness - strength, stamina, flexibility, coordination and balance, greater self-esteem, better digestion and circulation. The repetition of this sequence allows students to observe their present state and how their strength is developing, many also find that the repetition of the Primary Series is a place of stability and calm in times of change. The full Primary Series takes roughly 2 hrs to complete and lots of attempts to master, and so this workshop will focus on a structured selection of poses from the Primary Series that will give participants an understanding of how and perhaps why they are sequenced in such a way. This workshop is also a good introduction to the weekly Ashtanga classes offered at balance. This workshop requires participants to have a good level of fitness. Modifications will be offered throughout the workshop - making it suitable to all levels, however it is advised that a begginers course in yoga is completed before attending this workshop. This workshop is not suitable during pregnancy. . |
