The name The Pomegranate represents the health giving properties of this wonderful fruit with its ruby red seeds, native to Turkey and the Mediterranean. It also has symbolic and mythological associations with natural cycles, rebirth, and renewal.
The Pomegranate Hotel is for those who want convenience and comfort, while still surrounded by authentic and rural Turkey on an unspoiled stretch of coastline.
Staying at The Pomegranate is very much like being a houseguest – it's a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with plenty of room for relaxing and sunbathing around the pool.
The yoga shala is set amid orange and lemon trees, and caters for around 20 people. It is fully equipped with mats, bolsters, blocks, belts, and blankets.
The Pomegranate has been designed with great attention and care, featuring natural materials, stone and cedar, and furnished tastefully with wood, rattan and stunning fabrics.
The large and mature gardens offer plenty of shady nooks for curling up with a good book, or simply unwinding.
On Turkey’s famous ‘Turquoise Coast’, just twenty minutes southeast of Olu Deniz, The Pomegranate is surrounded by rural scenery and small farms. It has lovely views over the sea, and is backed by mountains, where the well-known Lycian Trail has marked paths to take you through the forests and mountains on this lovely section of coastline. The walks start from right outside the hotel. A rocky swimming cove is within half an hours walking distance, and lovely beaches are just a short ride away.
It is also not far from lovely Kabak Beach, an hour’s walk along a beautiful coastal path in the shade of the pine forest or alternatively 15 minutes by road. Further along the coast, accessible only by boat, is wonderful, isolated Springwater Beach.
Three double en-suite rooms, six twin en-suite rooms, one en-suite room with double & single bed, and three single cabins with toilets & showers adjacent.
All accommodation has air-conditioning.
Nearest airport is Dalaman airport, approx. 1.5hrs away. Minibus or taxi transfer can be arranged, price dependant on numbers. Please note that anyone travelling to Turkey is now required to purchase an online visa before entering the country, this can be bought at www.evisa.gov.tr. The fee is $20 USD (approx. £12). The visa needs to be printed in advance and shown at passport control.
Molino del Rey, Andalucia, Spain (link to more info)
17th - 24th August 2014
£675 (Single Supplement £150)
A purpose-built mountain retreat constructed from two ancient water mills, this is a beautiful centre where you can enjoy yoga with Gerry Kielty as well as walking, riding, biking and other activities in a very tranquil and relaxing atmosphere.
A superb location only 50 minutes from the tourist resorts of the Costa del Sol and the magical city of Ronda. Set in the still undiscovered wild beauty of Andalucia, the hamlet of Jorox is in a fertile green valley, flanked by orange groves in the Nature Reserve "Sierra de las Nieves".
A spring of the river "Rio Grande" is born at the entrance of the hamlet. From it the purest of waters pour through our centre, offering bathing facilities whilst surrounded by the wonderful fragrance of mountain flowers. There is a pool enclosed by a cave, and a 100 square metre yoga studio.
The climate is wonderfully warm with lots of sun, and flights from a good choice of airports in the UK only take a couple of hours.
Gerry has returned again and again to teach at Molino Del Rey and in the words of one of his students:
"The retreat with Gerry at Molino Del Rey in sunny Andalucia is one of the highlights of my year. A week of yoga in stunning surroundings, delicious food and to top it off wonderful massages given by Lydia and Dimitri. It has been such a discovery. I find that I can really improve my asanas under Gerry's careful tuition every day. Every year when I finish retreat I feel so relaxed, my back is straight and my whole body feels toned, and more importantly I feel this huge sense of achievement. It re-charges my batteries for the whole year."
Katie Keenan, yoga retreatee
Please note that although the retreat is for less experienced yoga students, it is also suitable for mixed level ability. Gerry, as always in his teaching, caters for different levels with a methodical and gradual approach.
