The Shoulders: Stretching & Strengthening
The workshop will investigate the anatomical structure and the range of movement in the shoulder area discovering how it is uniquely different in all participants. This knowledge will then be used to access more opening and release within the upper body. The tools we will use to do this are:
- Specific pranayama techniques.
- Gentle stretch and mobility exercises combined with long held postures.
- A strong dynamic flow sequence.
The Saturday session will focus on the relationship of the breath to the shoulders and will involve pranayama leading into stretches and mobilising postures building flexibility and releasing tension from the upper body.
On Sunday we will use the information gathered on Saturday as a spring board for a strong dynamic flow sequence that will involve arm balances and backbends.
The workshop is open to all levels whether you are a beginner or a well seasoned practitioner.

Friday - The Sleep of Yogis: Chandra Namaskar: Salutations To The Moon: Practice & Ritual
This session, which is both class and ritual, will introduce the esoteric practices and benefits of "Chandra Namaskra" (moon salutations) and its companion practices of Yoga Nidra, Pranamudra, Nadi Shodana and continuous Om chanting. Yoga Nidra has its roots in Tantric practice and is part of a meditative, healing, and conscious dying tradition.
Saturday - Core Strengthening: Asana, Bandhas, Pranayama
In the yogic view, abdominal conditioning and strength are encouraged for their aid in digestion, assimilation, and elimination on all levels of being and for the way this area, once toned, supports proper meditation positions. Many of the exercises found in Pilates have their origin in yoga asana. However, for the most part muscle groups go unacknowledged in yogic text and schools because the principle focus is energetic awareness and self-realization.
Sunday - Deep Flow: Lateral Sequence
sensation, pulsation, inner rhythm
Experience the immediate and profound unwinding of mental and physical tension, the inner wave of subtle energetic movements, the harmonization of the solar (pingala) and lunar (ida) channels, plus, the strengthening and tonifiying of the oblique abdominals and organs. Deep Flow is immensely engaging for all levels of practitioners.
