I just wanted to say hi to the Balance community and that I hope you are all managing to keep safe and well.  For those of you who don’t know me, I am one of the chiropractors at Balance and, in partnership with Gerry and Alan, set up Balance back in 2003.  After giving birth to my two girls, in 2012 I decided to stand down my directorship in favour of continuing to work part time as a member of the Balance team.

Covid-19 has touched all our lives and who knows when we will get back to some form of “normality” and what that will look like. I am missing my work, my patients, the staff, therapists and teachers as I’m sure everyone is. In the meantime, we must all do our best to keep moving as much as possible.  I know the live stream yoga has been a godsend for me.  My family seem to respect the fact that I can’t pause it and go back to it like I can an online workout so there are far less interruptions!

If you are working from home, as Alan said previously try to get up and move as often as is feasibly possible.  Even some stretches and twists while sitting in your chair are helpful.  If you have been sitting for a while, simply lying on a hard floor can help to “re-set” your skeleton and ease stress out of muscles and joints.  Follow this with a little stretching or walking if you can.  And don’t forget about your children.   Whether its schoolwork, television or gaming, their muscles and joints need to move too so don’t let them sit for too long or in awkward positions.

I am looking forward to the day when I can return to Balance and start practicing again. It may take me a bit longer to return due to my husband’s underlying health condition and subsequent shielding. This curtailed my ability to work when strategies to combat Covid-19 were being introduced, so apologies to anyone who had appointments booked and which had to be cancelled.

The Balance team will keep you up-to-date with who is returning to work as and when we get the go ahead to do so but if any of my patients feel they would like to discuss anything with me prior to that, please get in touch through the Balance email info@balance.co.uk

In the meantime, keep safe, keep well and keep moving.
